Un Cuerpo - Fine Art Eco T-shirt

from €38.60

This work aims to encapsulate the detrimental practice of colonialism and emphasizes how these destructive practices have cultivated the current hyper-exploitative capitalist systems of today, at the cost of our environment and the indigenous communities that inhabit them.

The work alludes to the trauma of getting torn away from one’s native land, linking the violence of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and the colonial empires that propelled it with the current political strife that continues this narrative, in the form of genocide, imperial expansion, and exceptionalism.

Without relying on any reference, I painted this abstract landscape purely from memory, intuition, and ancestral connection. The form does not represent one particular country or land mass, rather, it attempts to see the Earth as a body, equally susceptible to violence as our human ones. Still, I cling to hope by placing a found hand-painted bamboo totem at the top of the painting as a symbol of unity and resilience, upending the notion “us” and “them” and subverting it with a notion of “one”.

This t-shirt is not only art you can carry—it is a socially responsible choice. It is a commitment to an ethical supply chain and environmental impact. By adhering to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and Textile Exchange frameworks, we ensure the highest organic integrity and traceability from seed to stitch. The manufacturing process prioritizes the circular economy through the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), while OEKO-TEX certification guarantees that every thread is tested and free from harmful substances. This t-shirt is certified by Fair Wear Foundation (FWF), ensuring fair wages and safe conditions for all workers, and by PETA, promising no animals were harmed in the making of this product. Crafted from 100% organic ring-spun combed cotton, this shirt offers a luxurious feel and eco-conscious construction. With a medium fit and set-in sleeve design, it ensures a flattering silhouette and unrestricted movement for all-day comfort. Each shirt is fabric-washed for a soft, lived-in texture.
