Movement.

Color.

Texture.

Time.

Meaning.

Impact.

These are the core elements that Kassy observes in the world and incorporates into her craft.

Kassy Kova is a multicultural artist currently based in Barcelona, Spain. Intricate, theatrical, and unapologetically bold, her art aims to reach audiences from all walks of life, no matter their background. Working through themes such as identity, race, colonial history, environment, and societal constructs, Kassy seeks to create works that celebrate craftsmanship, aesthetics, and concept.

Every object has a mysterious history until it winds up on the street, discarded from one life, awaiting another. This is where Kassy sources her materials, the artist intercepting the cycle of functional objects to transform them into one of the ideas in her mind. Her brown body carries doors up long avenidas to her studio, each step an ode to the strength of people of color around the world, to their contributions to the societies we now benefit from, and to their long since unacknowledged credit in the art world.

Her body is a vessel of expression, both as a living canvas and a source of creative energy. She explores the intersection between visual art and movement in her practice, extrapolating significance from the remnants of the actions. Her process is experimental and intuitive, an ever-evolving dance between material, meaning, and movement.
